Washington CORE welcomed again students from Chuo University Global Management and Law school. The students’ visit was part of a program, the Japan Global Initiative (JGI), organized and led by Professor Masakazu Watanuki. This program allows students opportunity early in their college years to engage with the business community, international organizations and think tanks in Washington, DC.
WCORE consultant Yuki Shinzaki spoke to the students, sharing her experience at WCORE which she joined three years ago after graduating from George Mason University. She described what it’s like to be consultant at WCORE, working on different assignments from food promotion to national security issues, which include elements of policy, business, and technology. She also responded to student questions such as:
- How did her parents react when she said she wanted to pursue a career in the U.S.?
- What did she find most challenging when she arrived in the US.?
- What has she done to improve her research skills?
- What graduate schools would she recommend?
Yuki answered the student’s questions and added a valuable piece of advice: “Go for it regardless of the outcome. You do not know until you try.” We at WCORE cherish the “adventurous spirit” of Yuki Shinzaki, and we hope to continue our outreach program to encourage aspiring students.
